Venue Review: White Lake Baseball

This edition of venue review takes us up north to the White Lake Lakers and their baseball facility. We've been in this area many times but never to the high school so checking it out was a must! This facility just recently hosted the WIAA Division 4 sectionals this past season, a sectional won by Athens that included the Bluejays, Pittsville, Hilbert/Stockbridge, and Wausaukee. It is not one of the nicest facilities, but still earned the right to host - partially due to its central location of all the Division 4, Sectional 2 schools. The bleachers are old but do seat a lot of people. While this picture was taken in the summer, both the infield and the outfield receive a lot of wear and tear because White Lake/Elcho football team also plays on the outfield of the baseball diamond. An all-dirt infield can be problematic for inclement weather and it not the norm in high schools today. The old school stands with benches give the park a unique feel even though the playing surface is not great quality. We do think it would be cool to watch a game here, especially in a sectional environment! Thanks for viewing this episode of venue review and look for more features to come!
