See a road sign for a town and immediately try to guess the mascot/nickname of the high school in that town.  That's what we did (and still do) for 21 years.  Now, back in the day, grabbing a cell phone and looking up the nickname wasn't quite so easy.  Flip phones were the norm, and they didn't have a 5.5 inch screen for scrolling. A person had to look in the newspapers, watch the tv, or actually travel to the high school and see the sign to know what the nickname was.

These "little adventures" were great family discussions and a fascinating way to discover the great state of Wisconsin. Put a small notebook in the glove compartment and write down all the high schools visited by your family. Don't like the notebook idea? Then create a note on your phone and document the towns your family has visited. Eventually, the nicknames and "hey, we've been there" conversations will flow and and be fun.

When the stay at home order lifts, choose to leave a bit earlier, and make a stop at a few of the great Wisconsin high schools along your route to discover their nickname and see their school.  Your family won't be disappointed.
